For the first two and a half decades of its existence, RHWG was funded by grants from the Ford Foundation regional office for the Middle East and North Africa, based in Cairo-Egypt.

These funds enabled the network to hold meetings, sponsor seed grant and regional exchange, and minor operational costs and support by a program manager, Ms. Noha Gaballah, in Egypt.

The network’s activities have been supported by the International Development Research Centre in Canada via a grant to the Faculty of Health Sciences, American University of Beirut.
