Women's Reproductive Health in the Arab World, Cairo: The Population Council, Regional Paper No. 39, 1994.

This paper reviews the reproductive health situation of women in the Arab world, and examines the underlying social context. A definition of reproductive health is adopted based on four elements, including reproductive choice, successful childbearing, freedom from gynecological disease and risk, and dignity. A focus on the first three elements is maintained here because of difficulties in conceptualizing and measuring the concept of dignity.
