Field Methodology for Entry into the Community, Policy Series in Reproductive Health No. 3, the Population Council.Cairo, 1994.

This paper describes the field methodology developed for a study on reproductive morbidity. It presents the steps taken towards designing and implementing this methodology which used a culturally sensitive approach to involve a study community in the various stages of the research process. The paper is based on a study undertaken in two villages in the Giza governorate of Egypt to investigate the level of reproductive morbidity among women in this community. The paper expounds on the field operations which helped achieve an exceptionally high rate of participation of women in the medical examination.
